Book Description
It was a sad generation that limped past 1865. Almost every family had been touched by death, and many had been torn apart as sons, brothers, and fathers chose different sides in the Civil War. Murder at Fords Theatre is a history of an assassination with the Civil War as its tragic backdrop and with characters to match this tragedy. There was Lewis Paine, the devoted follower and David Herold who wanted desperately to belong and lose his reputation as an untrustworthy loafer. There are tragic failures of Mary Surratt and Dr. Samuel Mudd, as well as Abraham Lincoln, unappreciated by the public until his martyrdom. Lincoln refused security and put himself in harms way. Harm came in the form of John Wilkes Booth, an acclaimed actor, who wanted to save his beloved South and believed there was only one way to accomplish his goal. Booth had grown up with his own demons--depression and odd behavior were part of his family background. His darker side was hate. When the war broke out, Booth took up the southern cause -- the rest of the family sided with the North. Lincoln was a perfect object for Booths hatred. He suspended Habeas Corpus, put many anti-war advocates in jail, continued the war with its grisly pile of human deaths, refused to negotiate a treaty, and wrote Emancipation Proclamation. Booth, who had spent the war in a noncombat position at the behest of his mother, received news of the end of the war with increased anger. Soon it would be too late to become a hero. His hasty and disorganized plan to assassinate Lincoln went awry. Booth did shoot Lincoln, but during his escape he broke his ankle, an injury that slowed him and led to his capture and death. Only the Bible has been written about more than the Civil War, and the assassination of Lincoln is a part of that story. This is that story.

Book Description
Two-hundred long-forgotten French impressionist masterpieces, stashed away in the attic of a New York City brownstone, and valued at $1.6 billion in the festering Asian art markets. Zach ben Meier, the globally prominent art dealer, learns of their existence after reading the deceased painter's memoirs in the musty archives of Paris' Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Ben Meier ostentatiously implants himself in the Hamptons; what better "blind" to steal this quarry of art works. The tendrils of Zach's pursuits become complicated. "Obstacles" emerge everywhere: on Long Island, in New York City, in Monte Carlo; even on the streets of Paris. Book Description
In a time of war, morality is overcome by the unthinkable. The unthinkable justified by fear and circumstances beyond our control. From uncontrollable circumstances emerges a new world of terror. To fight this terror we sacrifice our morality further and go beyond the unthinkable. The remnants of this vicious cycle turn with a momentum all their own and live on long after the treaties are signed. This is the fuel that sustains us between conflicts. This is the catalyst that ignites our creativity and spawns new technologies of war. We are united through common enemies, even though our greatest enemy is our own fear. For David Andrews, his peaceful existence collided with the reverberations of a war written into history books decades earlier. As the reality of these uncontrollable events swamp over him he comes face-to-face with the unthinkable. The cyclone of a war that will not die will test his fear of the unknown by redefining everything he knew to be true and replacing it with an alternate universe. An alternate set of events sent into motion the day of his birth. A universe created by the cold war in a long forgotten US military base called Camp Hero. Camp Hero State Park is located on the south fork of Long Island, just west of the Montauk Point Lighthouse. The Montauk Point Lighthouse was commissioned by General George Washington in 1792 during the Revolutionary War. In 1929, during WWI the US Army established Fort Hero, named after Major General Andrew Hero, Jr. who was the Army’s Chief of Coastal Artillery. In 1942, during WWII the US Army upgraded the defenses of Fort Hero to deal with the growing threat of German invasion and Camp Hero was born. Camp Hero was eventually turned over to the Air Force in 1950 to become part of the National Air Defense system. Finally, in 1984 the land was turned over to the New York State Department of Parks. Conspiracy theorists believe the base is still operational today and the science being developed is out of this world.
